Requirements

  • Your research must directly focus on one of the four foundation themes: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World; People and their Natural Environment.
  • You must be accepted into or currently enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a full-time doctoral program.
  • Your PhD should be within the humanities, law, business, public health, or human social sciences.
  • Open to Canadian citizens (studying at home or abroad) and international students enrolled full-time at a Canadian university.
  • You should show high intellectual capacity, leadership drive, and a willingness to engage diverse viewpoints.

Interview Review

The selection process is very competitive. After applications close, a peer review committee creates a shortlist. Shortlisted candidates are contacted in early winter for group interviews and individual evaluations. The final group of about 15 fellows is chosen for academic excellence, leadership, and ability to work well across different fields.
