About Peking University

Peking University, founded in 1898 as the Imperial University of Peking, was China’s first national comprehensive university and a leading educational authority. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, it has evolved into a comprehensive institution excelling in humanities, sciences, engineering, medicine, and social sciences. The university's merger with Beijing Medical University in 2000 further strengthened its academic diversity.
