About the Internship

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is an initiative designed to foster international academic collaboration. Interns are paired with Canadian faculty members to work on research projects across a wide variety of disciplines from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences under the supervision of distinguished Canadian university professors.

During the 12-week program, participants conduct research, they also have the opportunity to attend professional development workshops, industry events, and government relations seminars, helping them build a global professional network.

Eligibility

  • You must be a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s student.
  • You must be a citizen of or studying in one of the eligible international partner countries (including Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States).
  • You must meet the specific GPA and academic performance requirements set for your country.
  • You must have at least one to three semesters remaining in your degree program as of the fall of 2026.
  • You must be fluent in the oral and written language of the project (English and/or French).
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Application Process

  1. Visit the Platform: Go to the official Mitacs Globalink Research Internship student platform when applications launch on August 5, 2026.
  2. Create an Account: Register as a new applicant and complete your profile.
  3. Search Projects: Browse the available research projects. You can search by discipline, keyword, or specific university.
  4. Select Projects: You are required to apply for a minimum of three and a maximum of ten projects. Ensure that your selections span at least three different Canadian provinces.
  5. Submit Application: Upload your documents and submit your application before the mid-September deadline.

Important Tip: It is highly recommended to complete your application at least two working days before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical issues. Make sure to save your progress frequently.
