About Beijing Normal University

Beijing Normal University (BNU), founded in 1902 as the Education Department of the Imperial University of Peking, has played a pioneering role in teacher education in China. Over the past century, BNU has evolved into a comprehensive, research-intensive university with strong programs in fundamental sciences, humanities, teacher education, and educational science. The university operates two campuses, in Beijing and Zhuhai, and comprises 3 faculties, 27 schools, 2 departments, 11 research institutes, and 4 academies. Its libraries hold over 5.4 million physical books and 8.2 million e-books, supporting more than 35,000 full-time students. The faculty includes over 8,000 members, with 94% of its 2,562 full-time teachers holding doctoral degrees. BNU has fostered global partnerships with approximately 300 universities and international organizations across more than 40 countries and regions. Annually, the university hosts over 900 international professors and scholars for lectures and research collaborations while welcoming around 2,000 long-term international students, making it one of the leading institutions for international education in China.
