Anhui University (AHU), co-sponsored by the People’s Government of Anhui Province and the Ministry of Education of PRC, is a key comprehensive university and a member of “Project 211,” a national initiative for the development of key universities. Founded in 1928 in Anqing City, the former capital of Anhui Province, AHU has since grown to encompass four campuses and a university science and technology park, covering over 215 hectares with 1.25 million square meters of floor space. Its libraries hold over 3.5 million books, supporting a faculty of more than 2,600 members, including over 900 professors and associate professors. By 2016, the university had 416 PhD candidates, 5,757 master’s students, 21,323 undergraduates, and 545 international students. AHU offers a wide range of disciplines across 10 categories, including humanities, science, engineering, and management, with 26 schools and departments. It hosts 13 post-doctoral research stations, 12 first-level doctoral programs, and 95 undergraduate programs. With a strong emphasis on research, AHU has established numerous national and provincial research platforms and key laboratories. The university maintains partnerships with 124 institutions across countries like the US, UK, Germany, and Japan, along with three Confucius Institutes in Chile, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. Its rich academic heritage, innovative research, and international collaborations make it a leading center for talent cultivation in Anhui Province.
