Anhui Medical University (AHMU) is a provincial key institution jointly supported by the Anhui Provincial Government, the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Education. The university's origins trace back to 1926 with the establishment of Private Southeast Medical University in Shanghai, which later became Southeast Medical College in 1930. After relocating to Huaiyuan, Anhui Province in 1949, it became the region's first higher medical education institution. In 1952, it moved to Hefei and was renamed Anhui Medical College, and finally, in 1985, it was designated Anhui Medical University. With a focus on medical education, the university has grown to include diverse disciplines like science, engineering, law, and management, offering a broad range of academic programs and fostering research and innovation in the medical field. The university comprises four campuses, covering a total area of 1,820 mu, and is home to more than 33,000 students, including undergraduates, graduates, and international students. It boasts 16 teaching institutions and six affiliated hospitals. AHMU is recognized for its excellence in disciplines like clinical medicine and pharmacology, ranking among the top 1% globally in these fields. The university also offers a range of graduate and doctoral programs and has several post-doctoral research centers. With strategic partnerships worldwide, AHMU has developed extensive collaborations with institutions in countries like Germany, the United States, and Australia, enhancing its global presence. Its faculty members are highly regarded, with many holding prestigious positions in academic organizations and contributing to top-tier research. The university’s commitment to scientific advancement is reflected in its numerous national awards and published research in prominent academic journals.
